A message from
the president.....

"Technology is not only changing what our students learn, but how they learn. Computer based instruction and distance learning technologies have changed the way colleges and universities deliver their educational programs. Our goal at Delaware Tech is to maximize use of these technologies to increase accessibility by enhancing and providing alternatives to the traditional classroom setting."

Dr. Orlando J. George, Jr.
President
Delaware Technical &
Community College

About The Program---
A National Award Winner...

Delaware Technical & Community College has received national recognition for its achievement in educational technology. On February 1, 2000, the College was presented the 2000 Bellwether Award for its Educational Technology Certificate Program.

This national award annually recognizes outstanding and innovative practices that are successfully leading community colleges into the 21st century. The College, one of 10 finalists, was selected by a consortium of national organizations related to community colleges and higher education including the Education Commission of the States, League for Innovation, and Institute for Higher Education

Delaware Tech's Educational Technology Certificate (ETC) Program helps teachers, kindergarten through college levels, become adept at integrating technology into their curriculum and using computers as a teaching tool. Developed in June 1998 by a statewide advisory committee of college faculty and school district representatives, the program has been identified as a national model by the American Association of Community Colleges, and helped the College earn the 1999 Community College of the Year Award from the National Alliance of Business.

Contributions to Delaware Tech's "Excellence through Technology" campaign made the award winning ETC program a reality. Fundraisers, private donations and individual contributions, have enabled the College to help over 550 school teachers and college faculty incorporate technology into their classrooms, and improve the learning environment for students throughout Delaware.
